Skills.
Software Engineering
My day job, and the skill I’ve been honing longer than any other. I started coding when I was 14 thanks to my father who holds a Ph.D. in computer engineering. Now I have over a decade of software development and engineering experience, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, and have published software individually as well as with both small- and medium-sized team.
Android development has been my biggest topic over the last two years, although I’m getting into web development more and more and have published a few websites with platforms ranging from Wix (drag-and-drop) to Django (fully-custom web applications run on Python).
Game development has come up in 1-3 year spurts, and I have significant skills in Unity, some in Unreal, and a bit in Godot as well. I’ve personally published a game to the Google Play store and have built hyper-realistic VR training applications for the Air Force.
Communication
I’m passionate about communicating as Dale Carnegie intended. Perhaps my greatest goal each year is to align my perspectives and communications more closely with the life-changing principles outlined in “How to Win Friends and Influence People.”
The need for this has shown itself time and again with my 9-5 job’s software engineering team as well as with my employees at my cleaning business. Everyone wants you to see things from their perspective, but few are willing to put in the work to do so. I’m committed to putting in that effort, and the rewards are just as Mr. Carnegie eloquently stated almost a century ago.
Sales
Currently learning a ton about sales through books and training from the greats (e.g., Andy Elliot). I don’t have significant experience here yet, but my next major project will have me making tons of cold calls before long.
Small Business
I’ve built a cleaning company, a software/gaming company, and am working on starting a long-term project while I maintain those two businesses. I made a lot of mistakes along the way, but my knowledge of how to start and grow a business is radically improved thanks to actually trying a couple things.
If you are interested in running a startup, shoot me a message and I’d be happy to share lessons learned with you.
Art
Digital artistry using open source digital art software, i.e., Blender, Gimp, and Inkscape.
Music
I love music and have played the guitar for almost a decade with what I believe to be reasonably good proficiency. This love of music and audio overall led me to a 4 year audio engineering at the AFRL Battlespace Acoustics Branch as well as live sound and media at the large church I grew up in.
